The Vienna City Marathon weekend is always special, and in 2026 I lined up for the half marathon. From the start it was clear this wouldn’t be about perfect conditions — it was very hot, even early in the race.
Despite the heat, running through Vienna’s streets was a great experience. The crowds were loud and constant, and that familiar marathon atmosphere carried me through the tougher sections. Aid stations and short moments of shade became more important than usual.

I focused on staying controlled and managing the conditions rather than forcing the pace. That approach paid off, and I crossed the finish line in 2:01:51 — tired, overheated, but very satisfied with how the race came together.
